Quisitive

January 2019 — Present

Irving, TX (Remote)

Cross-platform and native mobile engineering across multiple client engagements in entertainment, sports, and industrial sectors. Ongoing work on the Cinemark Theatres mobile app, where I've been the founding co-architect since 2013.

  • Founding co-architect of the Cinemark Theatres mobile app, now in its thirteenth year of production. The app carries a 4.9 App Store rating across 820K+ ratings and a 4.6 Google Play rating across 108K+ reviews.
  • Key contributor to the migration of the Cinemark app from Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android to Xamarin Forms, 100+ screens, completed in three months, with the app live in production throughout.
  • Designed and built a unified Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline replacing four separate pipelines, implementing automatic build versioning and automated release branch tagging.
  • Led the mobile side of an OAuth2 authentication migration using Keycloak and MSAL.NET.
  • Designed and developed a sports training app using React Native and TypeScript with offline-capable scoring for coaches in the field.
  • Designed and implemented RSA and AES encryption for customer payment data protection on a separate client engagement.
  • Built a .NET 7 REST Web API enabling an international industrial equipment company to sell products to preferred partners online.

Android Technical Lead & Mobile Developer

Baylor Scott & White Health

July 2016 — January 2019

Dallas, TX

Joined as the Xamarin expert on the MyBSWHealth app, a patient-facing healthcare platform. Stabilized a struggling codebase, built the team's CI/CD system from scratch, and led the Android team through a complete architectural rewrite using Kotlin and a React Native hybrid approach.

  • Reduced Android crash rate from 300+ per day to under 1%, lifting the Google Play rating from 3.5 to 4.5 stars.
  • Reduced APK size from 40+ MB to under 24MB by auditing and removing unused resources, optimizing image assets, and correctly configuring release build settings including linker and compression.
  • Built CI/CD from the ground up using Visual Studio App Center. Manual release builds were gone; QA could validate features as soon as pull requests merged.
  • Led the Android team through a full rewrite from Xamarin.Android to native Kotlin, incorporating React Native for the main dashboard using the JavaScript bridge for native-to-JS interoperability.
  • Configured self-hosted macOS Azure DevOps build agents using Mac Minis, solving the lack of hosted macOS support and enabling cloud CI/CD for both iOS and Android.
  • Established coding standards and code review procedures using .editorconfig, KLint, and Azure DevOps across a team of 5 on-site and 3 offshore developers.
  • Android technical lead responsible for cross-team coordination with QA and UI/UX, with final call on Android-side technical decisions.

Consultant

Quisitive (RBA Consulting)

January 2011 — July 2016

Irving, TX

Cross-platform mobile consulting across entertainment, healthcare, and retail industries. This is where the Cinemark mobile app started, two developers, MonoDroid and MonoTouch, building from scratch.

  • Co-founded the Cinemark Theatres mobile app in 2013, building the iOS platform and shared architecture layers from day one using MonoTouch and MVVMCross.
  • Rewrote the Cinemark app from PhoneGap (Cordova) to native Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android. Developer experience and app performance improved substantially.
  • Built an Android app for a national health insurance company using Xamarin.Android, enabling customers to view claims and access insurance details.
  • Created CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and TestFlight to enable continuous testing and feedback across development, QA, and product owner teams.

Lead Software Engineer / Software Engineer

Leonardo DRS

2003 — 2011

Dallas, TX

Eight years building engineering test software for infrared sensors and defense systems. Started as a Software Engineer and was promoted to Lead Software Engineer, where I mentored and led a team through a VB6 to C# migration.

  • Designed and implemented automated engineering test software for infrared sensors using .NET 1.1, replacing a fully manual test process.
  • Promoted to Lead Software Engineer to mentor, train, and lead five developers through a platform modernization from VB6 to C#.
  • Migrated multiple legacy VB6 test programs to C#.
